Funny Little Boy

This weekend I had the pleasure of attending my aunts wedding with my family. I was excited to see my aunt for this first time in a little over two years, maybe more. While the wedding was fun and beautiful, I was surprised that the wedding was not the best part of my small adventure. While at the wedding I learned the kind of person that my second youngest nephew is becoming, and man did it make me smile. I spend a lot of time with my family and I have watched this boy grow up from the age of 1 to the now 11 year old young man he is today. Before this weekend I thought that I knew his personality and would have told you that he was a hyper boy, but shy around people that he doesn't know too well. At the wedding I was expecting my sweet little nephew to hide off at the table or in a corner; boy was I wrong. This handsome little guy was bustin' a move and taking over the dance floor all night long. Until this night I had never seen someone dance so hard that their nose began to bleed, but did this stop him? No! I had to go get my brother to take him to the restroom so he could get cleaned up and rest for a little bit. As soon as he was he was right back on the dance floor break dancing the night away. Then on top of this never before seen behavior, my nephew decided that he was going to be apart of the Garter toss to all of the single men in the hall. My new uncle threw the garter right at my nephew as a joke and, with a look of terror realizing that this item being thrown his way had just come off of his aunts upper leg, he dove out of the way. The entire reception party erupted into laughter and applause as he stood up and dusted himself off, then walked away to his father. I have always had  deep love for my little baby, but after this weekend think my heart opened up just a little bit more for him.

    I have an image in my head of your nephew diving out of the way - and it makes me laugh out loud! Cute story.

Sometimes the most exciting things in life can also be the most frustrating. Recently I bought a car. I had so much fun searching and trying to find a car that will fit me. I finally found the perfect car and so I pulled all of my money together and got it for myself. It isn't much but it's 100% mine and I was so proud of myself for being an adult and buying myself a car. Pretty soon I realized that the sunroof was falling into the car in one corner. I immediately got upset. Of course this would happen to me! I called every mechanic I knew and, of course, no one could fix it. "I Got This Feeling"

I cannot shake this wonderful feeling that I get every time I walk into my internship classroom. My students greet me with huge smiles and exaggerated waves from all over the room. They immediately make me smile. It also thrills me that I can already see some slight improvements in some of the class's work when we have one-on-one time together. I get the greatest amount of joy and pride in my heart to see a student of mine that has been struggling with their classwork finally answer the problem without a little extra push. But what melts my heart the most is when my students get excited to share what is going on in their lives with me. Today a girl in my class shared the fact that her family owns a flying monkey, she then told me a fun fact that flying monkeys are nocturnal and they don't like the light. This is yet another reason that I have such a great feeling on the mornings of my internship, I love learning alongside my students, and sharing that they are teaching me thing

Reminders of my goals

While at work this Saturday I was reminded of why I want to be in this profession. I had a table sitting in my section (I'm a server) that was super sweet and kind. It started off by me walking up and saying hi to the father and his daughter. I immediately realized that the girl had cerebral palsy, so I struck up a conversation and started asking all of my normal questions. The girl smiled at me with the biggest sweetest smile and ordered the drink and appetizer she wanted. Her dad laughed and said whatever she wanted. I got their things to them and sat down with them to get their order. The dad started asking me questions about my major and what my plans were after I graduate college. I explained to him that after I graduate I want to go back and get my special education certification and teach younger students in an inclusion classroom.
