Learning Experience

Sometimes the most exciting things in life can also be the most frustrating. Recently I bought a car. I had so much fun searching and trying to find a car that will fit me. I finally found the perfect car and so I pulled all of my money together and got it for myself. It isn't much but it's 100% mine and I was so proud of myself for being an adult and buying myself a car. Pretty soon I realized that the sunroof was falling into the car in one corner. I immediately got upset. Of course this would happen to me! I called every mechanic I knew and, of course, no one could fix it. This was so frustrating to me, I couldn't figure out anything else to do other than take it to the dealership. Then my mother and step-father came to the rescue! They knew someone who could do the work for me. So finally things are looking up and my car will finally be perfect again. I am still so happy that I was able to make such a large step in becoming an adult and taking care of myself, but I am glad that this happened to me. I learned two things from this experience. One, there is always a downside to every bright side, but you can always overcome it. Two, family will always be there to pick you up when you fall down.

    I really liked this blog, because I can relate to this. Family is important to me and i Know they will be there for me to when I am in need. Being in college has made me feel like i have had to make more adult decisions which can be scary but rewarding at the same time.

    Alyssa, I love the roses and colors in your blog. I also love the quote. I agree, that sometimes ups can turn to downs, or at least valleys in our lives. I am so glad that you were able to get the sunroof issue worked out. I hope your car stays healthy and congrats!

I cannot shake this wonderful feeling that I get every time I walk into my internship classroom. My students greet me with huge smiles and exaggerated waves from all over the room. They immediately make me smile. It also thrills me that I can already see some slight improvements in some of the class's work when we have one-on-one time together. I get the greatest amount of joy and pride in my heart to see a student of mine that has been struggling with their classwork finally answer the problem without a little extra push. But what melts my heart the most is when my students get excited to share what is going on in their lives with me. Reminders of my goals

While at work this Saturday I was reminded of why I want to be in this profession. I had a table sitting in my section (I'm a server) that was super sweet and kind. It started off by me walking up and saying hi to the father and his daughter. I immediately realized that the girl had cerebral palsy, so I struck up a conversation and started asking all of my normal questions. The girl smiled at me with the biggest sweetest smile and ordered the drink and appetizer she wanted. Her dad laughed and said whatever she wanted. I got their things to them and sat down with them to get their order. The dad started asking me questions about my major and what my plans were after I graduate college. I explained to him that after I graduate I want to go back and get my special education certification and teach younger students in an inclusion classroom.
